Arad is located in west part of Romania and is the residence of the county with the same name, which represent 3,2 % from the area of Romania and is the sixth county as dimension. The big Romanian historian Nicolae Iorga during of one of his documentary trip in 1906, has just praise words to address the town comparing with Viena. The city had an economic development since XIX. century and there was built: ready-made clothes factory (1867), gas factory (1868), brick and tile factory (1869), furniture factory (1878) and also more other buildings for living observing already in those days the influence of culture from West Europe. Near the Arad residence the county include yet: 7 cities, 67 villages and 273 smaller villages, having a population with 480.000 inhabitans. The picturesque landscapes of hills and mountains from Mures and Crisul Alb valleys encourage the Romanian and foreign tourists to visit many touristical zone in nearby of Arad: Moneasa, Lipova, Cladova Valley, Mare-Caprioara Valley etc. In residence Arad, in the cities like Lipova, Ineu, Moneasa and Lipova spas or in other touristical zones you could find hotels, inns, motels, vacation campings and villas which increase the interest for this area. The Arad county has many scientific reservations remarkable through the rarity and variety of flora : Natural Reservation Moneasa, “Dosul Laurului” reservation from Zimbru, Botanical Garden from Castle Macea, Recreation parks from Gurahont, Bulci, Capalnas, Neudorf, Savarsin, Odvos and Manastur and also the forest reservations from Runcu-Grosi, Raul Mare-Halmagel, Prundul Mare-Securigiu and many place for hunting and fishing possibilities. The old churches and monasteries represent the realy artistic and spiritual treasure. The well known monasteries are from Hodos-Bodrog, St. Maria-Radna Francisc Class Monasteries, church roman-catholic from Sanpetru German. On the Crisul Alb valley and Mures river we could find ortodoxe churches from wood which were builded in XVII-XIX. century. The big arhitectural value has the many castles and buildings as : Arad fortress builded between 1763-1785, Castle-fortress from Ineu builded between 1645-1652, castles from Savarsin, Bulci, Capalnas, Petris, Conop, Odvos, Macea, Fantanele, Siria. Arad county preserve an old and genuine popular art in Tara Zarandului, Ineu-Sicula and Birchis-Capalnas. Embroideries in red and black, clothes from sheep fur, the vests from Birchis and Blata are the most representative for this area. The traditional textils and also the popular ceramics could find in the most households in Tara Zarandului, Valea Muresului si Crisul Alb. We could remark the keeping some traditional households in principal in the villages situated in mountain zones.
